SNOUK DESIGN NOTES BLOG
An open space where I could keep on experimenting on game design.
I also consider this to be my unprofessional space where I could just be my weird and silly self.
Be sure to check it out to get to know about my side projects & ventures!

"Robo Wars" is a multiplayer arena shooter where players battle against each other in different modes, with different weapons, in different maps for victory and for survival!
This project was inspired by Halo. It's a mixture of COD and Halo in the 2D realm of shooting. The project was made in my free time.

I created this project to primarily learn more about coding my own games. I chose GameMaker, because I felt that I only needed to understand the logic behind coding, and not coding itself. On a side note, I also wanted to improve my pixel art skills to better understand its work process for future projects.
But as time passed by, feature by feature, this project started to exponentially grow, and it came to a point where I had the feeling that this project had high potential for a full release. Though in the end, I wasn't able to do it. I had to end the production because I got what I came for - which is, the knowledge of the basics of programming, and some practice on pixel art. Also, I stopped working because I had other University projects to focus on at the time.
This project features:
-
5 Levels
-
6 Weapons (Assault, Plasma, Shotgun, Grenade, Sniper, Rockets)
-
4 Game Modes (Deathmatch, Instadeath, CTF, Oddball)
-

PERSONAL COMMENTS
WHAT WENT RIGHT?
-
Time management and implementation of the planned design were pretty good (pre-production to alpha).
-
It was really fulfilling to prototype and implement planned features solo.
-
Turned out to be a really fun arena multiplayer experience.
-
Outsourced sound assets really add to the experience.
WHAT TO IMPROVE?
-
The game still has a few unresolved bugs remaining.
-
More work can be done on the level art.
