SNOUK DESIGN NOTES BLOG
An open space where I could keep on experimenting on game design.
I also consider this to be my unprofessional space where I could just be my weird and silly self.
Be sure to check it out to get to know about my side projects & ventures!

"Robo Wars" is a multiplayer arena shooter where players battle against each other with different weapons, in different modes, in different maps for survival and victory!
This project was inspired by Halo. It's a mixture of COD and Halo in the 2D realm of shooting. The project was made in my free time.

I created this project to expand my coding knowledge. I chose GameMaker, because I felt that I only needed to understand the logic behind coding, and not a full coding language in itself.
On a side note, I also wanted to improve my pixel art skills to better understand art work processes for future projects.
But as time passed by, feature by feature, this project started to grow exponentially, and it came to a point where I had the feeling that this project had high potential for a full release.
Though, at the end, I wasn't able to do it. I had to stop production because I got what I came for - which is, the knowledge on the basics of programming, and some pixel art common practices. Also, I stopped working because I had other university projects to focus on at the time.
This project features:
-
5 Levels
-
6 Weapons (Assault, Plasma, Shotgun, Grenade, Sniper, Rockets)
-
4 Game Modes (Deathmatch, Instadeath, CTF, Oddball)
-
Basic Video Settings
-
Basic Audio Settings
-
Customizable Controls
-
Customizable Gameplay Experience
PERSONAL COMMENTS
WHAT WENT RIGHT?
-
Time management and implementation of the planned design was pretty good (pre-production to alpha).
-
It was really fulfilling to prototype and implement planned features all by myself.
-
Turned out to be a really fun arena multiplayer experience.
-
Outsourced sound assets really add to the experience.
WHAT TO IMPROVE?
-
The game still has a few unresolved bugs remaining.
-
More work can be done on the level art.
